Ripped Off: Again!?

April 23rd, 2010 | Category: Design, Electronics, Packaging, Photography

Man…what’s going on in this world. Does anyone have integrity anymore? Everyone’s looking for something for nothing, and nobody wants to work. Here’s *another* example… We send a package to our contact in China, who gives it to a printer. Then without out permission, they copy our files, and use them as they see fit. In this case, they just took a photo. At least, that’s all I’ve seen so far. I’m sure the design was also bootlegged. See below. That’s Kasia my co-worker at Sentry… I took that photo. Now, its popping up in packang in China.

Here’s the original edited photo as seen on our package.

Here’s a PDQ display with the ripped-off photo! Nice, right!?

My boss just returned from the Canton Fair and he said many of the major headphone companies had copies of our designs in their booths. Nice! Al Jourgensen was right… People really are thieves!

DIY KAC Rail Panel Stippling

October 30th, 2009 | Category: Miscellaneous, Personal, Photography

I’m in the process of stippling my Knight’s Armament rail panels. This is the first one I did as a test using AEnemaBay’s method from AR15.com. Check out the tutorial here for more info. It’s really easy to do and the results are very effective. The panels are much less slippery, and give you a better grip even when wet. AEnemaBay’s method will give you a random texture that is much closer to the pattern on Magpul’s MIAD grip than simply using a soldering iron to poke holes. This method doesn’t deform the rail and takes much less time since you are covering a larger area than when you use the soldering iron technique.

Digital King Lenses

June 11th, 2009 | Category: Electronics, Miscellaneous, Photography

Digital King macro, wide-angle & fisheye lenses for my VQ1005! They stick on using a magnet & are easy to change. I haven’t taken any photos yet…so there’s nothing to post, but I’ll get something on Flickr soon. For more info on the lenses click here or watch this video! They’ll work with any cell phone, toy, keychain or other inexpensive camera. As far as I know they are only available in Asia.

Too Many Flowers

June 01st, 2009 | Category: Personal, Photography

I’ve got a ton of new photos up on Flickr, but most of them are pretty uninspired and while interesting…I’d have to say they are definitely not what I would call, “my style”. It so happens that I’ve been doing a lot of yard work lately and have been keeping my VQ1005 & ViviCam 5050 nearby. I guess that’s my excuse anyway. My wife, who’s a professional photographer think my pics are sophomoric and amateur at best. Still, I think some of them are kind of nice.
